With over 30 years of healthcare experience, Michael D. Jackson has built a distinguished career in nursing, focusing extensively on psychiatric care. After spending 29 years at UC San Diego, where he began his career in an acute locked psychiatric unit and currently serves in the Emergency Department, Michael has gained deep expertise in both emergency and psychiatric nursing.
Throughout his career, he has witnessed firsthand the growing need for psychiatric care, particularly in emergency settings, and remains deeply committed to serving this patient population. As a nursing educator for the past 16 years, Michael has also taught Psych Mental Health to nursing students, contributing to the development of the next generation of healthcare providers.
Michael has further advanced his skills by earning a post-masters certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner PMHNP-BC, demonstrating his commitment to professional growth and excellence in psychiatric nursing.
A disabled veteran, Michael's background brings a unique perspective to his work, shaped by resilience, adaptability, and a profound commitment to service. With a passion for psychiatric care and education, Michael is eager to contribute his knowledge and experience to advancing mental health care in any clinical setting.
